"Mi-ca-iah" is a sentence name, meaning "Who [Heb.
mi] is like [
k] Yah [
iah]?"

A Commentary on MicahWho is a God like you, pardoning iniquity
and passing over transgression
for the remnant of His inheritance?
He does not retain his anger forever,
because he delights in steadfast love.
-Micah 7:12
I've been thinking about the origins of my name and the ministry of my namesake. Bought a commentary by Bruce Waltke on the book. Supposed to be one of the best. Micah of Moresheth was a
prophet of God. Get out of your head: "predicted the future". The ministry of the prophets was so much bigger, so much deeper, than we realize. Think: "spoke for God". We have no idea what they're really saying, what the Spirit is saying to the church through them. I'm irresistibly drawn to studying the prophets right now. So I thought, why not start with Micah? I was named for him. I've been thinking lately about that. Nothing is chance.
Oh, God, may my life confirm the witness and testimony of the name I bear! The incomparability of my sovereign King and beloved Father. The question "Who is like Yah?" is meant to emphasize the uniqueness of I AM. Because the answer is no one. He is completely other. Holy. Sovereign. The one true God.
"There is no one like our God;
There is no one like You, God..."
